Saturday, March 7, 2009 / 6 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Curated by artist Ken Davis, "It Takes All
Kinds," looks at how street artists have moved from the world
to the gallery, and in some cases back again. All the artists
featured in this show have amazing drawing and painting skills,
much of which were honed through graffiti, sign painting, tattoo
design and illustration. Once these skills left the street they
became focused on incredibly beautiful works of fine art, ranging
from delicate burned wood drawings, (do not miss this work by
Matt Richie), to large scale, three dimensional urban landscapes
by Task One. This show promises to be a creative circus, the
likes of which have not been seen in Alameda before. Music will
be provided by invited DJ's, Wyatt Gurp, Harbour and Tekasaurus
Rex, and there will be a live silk screening demo by Political
Gridlock.
