August 1, 2009 / 7 p.m.
It痴 hot in Alameda and I知 thinking about tomatoes. Lots of tomatoes. While my own plants have been a dismal flop, co-Director Herrick痴 are poised to deliver a bumper crop this year, so I had to start thinking about what to do with them. This, and a meeting of Slow Food Nation up at Autobody, led me, circuitously, to Tuscany, and all things Italian. It seemed like a great idea to fall in love with community, art and food for the Seventh Autobody Fine Art Dinner.
As ever, the gallery will transform into your own private restaurant. Tables
will be aglow with candlelight and strewn with flowers and the marvelous scents
of summer bounty will be wafting from the kitchen. We値l start with cocktails
at 7:00pm, Amy our intern suggests we go the Limoncello route, and we値l sit
down for dinner around 8:00pm. I知 thinking a mixture
of heady Tuscan cuisine, with a little of the good old fashioned, red and white
checked tablecloth cuisine of Lady and the Tramp. During dinner you値l be entertained
by a surprise performer and
we値l
be producing another limited edition print for you to take home. Our new show,
"Artificial Nature" will be on display, so the setting will include the
magical ambiance of strange and wonderful sculpture, as you sit down to eat
and fall in love again. Aaaaahhh.
If you are a member and
have not already taken advantage of the offer, then you
